Your Opportunity
Two Permanent Full Time Positions.
Are you looking for valuable hands-on experience to develop critical skills while working towards your Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation?
Capital Power is currently seeking two highly motivated individuals to join our Financial Development & Accreditation Program (FDAP). This innovative CPA pre-approved development program provides on-the-job training. We will prepare you for challenging assignments within the organization and an exciting career with Capital Power.
During the program you will work with members of the Capital Power Finance team and rotate through a minimum of three different areas within the Finance department, spending approximately a year in each position. FDAP will provide you with a broad range of experience where you will be developing a variety of skills. This could include financial planning and analysis, corporate tax, operational accounting/reporting, external financial reporting, and internal audit.
This program offers you not only the technical skills required but also opportunities for you to develop communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. The skill set acquired during these three years will meet the practical experience required to obtain your Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
What you will bring to the role
Education and Skills:
- Completed Business/Commerce Bachelor’s Degree (including all the prerequisites to immediately enter the CPA PEP program).
- Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities.
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Self-motivation
- Strong attention to detail.
CPA Assistance
In addition to offering a progressive career advancement program, Capital Power provides various areas of support to assist in successfully obtaining your CPA:
- Full financial support, including CFE preparation course funding.
- A paid flex day a month that can be used for study.
- Additional paid study time for the CFE.
- A support group consisting of current students and recent CPA graduates.
- Individual mentor to assist you throughout the three-year program.
Working Conditions:
- Hybrid Office/Work from home position.

In order to be considered for this role you must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Clearance of Credit check is required for this position.
The successful candidate for this position will undergo an education verification, reference checks and criminal record check.
