Our downtown Vancouver law firm is seeking a highly organized Legal Assistant to join our team. If you have prior experience assisting litigation lawyers and solicitors, possess excellent communication skills, and thrive in a fast-paced legal setting, we invite you to apply.
Your responsibilities will include:
Proofreading and formatting various legal documents, including pleadings, motions, contracts, policies, and correspondence.
Drafting correspondence and assisting in the preparation of legal documents.
Maintaining organized case files in both physical and electronic formats.
Conducting research and gathering information from diverse sources.
Aiding in document production, including the preparation of discovery requests and responses.
Preparing and filing court documents, such as motions, briefs, and legal pleadings.
Coordinating with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel to schedule hearings and legal proceedings.
Upholding strict confidentiality regarding client information and adhering to professional ethics and standards.
Undertaking general administrative tasks, including calendar management, email handling, and mail management.
Providing support and mentorship to the Administrative Assistant as necessary.
Requirements:
Completed LAA certification
Minimum of 4 years of legal assistant experience, preferably with a background in litigation support.
Proficiency in legal terminology, court procedures, and legal document formats.
Strong command of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities, with acute attention to detail.
Capability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Previous experience with e-filing systems and legal research databases.
Familiarity with British Columbia court rules and procedures.
