Our client is a well-established and respected regional firm based in Kitchener-Waterloo, known for its commitment to providing exceptional legal services to clients in various areas of law. We are currently seeking a Litigation Lawyer with 2-5 years of experience to join our dynamic team.
You will play a pivotal role in the firm’s litigation department, handling a diverse range of civil litigation cases, including estate litigation. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a talented and driven lawyer to further develop their legal skills, work on high-profile cases, and contribute to the firm's continued success.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Litigation Practice:
- Manage and oversee a caseload of litigation matters, with a some focus on estate litigation.
- Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
- Represent clients in court proceedings, including hearings, trials, and settlement negotiations.
2. Client Management:
- Provide exceptional legal counsel and support to clients, maintaining strong client relationships.
- Communicate effectively with clients to keep them informed about the progress of their cases.
3. Collaboration and Support:
- Collaborate with senior lawyers and partners within the firm to develop case strategies and share legal expertise.
- Provide mentorship and support to junior associates and legal staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on litigation.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in the province of Ontario.
- Previous experience in estate litigation is considered a significant asset.
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Commitment to maintaining reasonable billable hour expectations.
