The Office of Tribunal Counsel, of the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General, is the legal office for a number of provincial adjudicative tribunals that are at arm’s length from government. Expansion of the client base to other such tribunals who are in need of legal service is possible. The Office of Tribunal Counsel is looking for a Crown Counsel Assistant, working under the supervision of the lawyers in the office, to fill the following contract position in Regina:
A one-year renewable contract position starting July 1, 2023, or sooner.
The successful candidate will have relevant education and/or experience, as well as strong interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be able to work independently, follow instructions with minimal supervision and demonstrate initiative to meet the needs of the Office of Tribunal Counsel.
The position requires familiarity with civil litigation and terminology, as well as government processes and policies. Duties may include document collection, review and compilation; liaising with client contacts; preparing drafts of legal documents or correspondence; maintenance of a precedent system; and legal research. General office management and assistance will also be necessary.
This position requires superior computer and word processing skills and familiarity with Word, Excel and other relevant software. Experience with historical legislative research and legal research software, including CanLII and Westlaw, is also an asset.
