Our Legal Firm client is currently looking to hiring Corporate Legal Assistants with experience supporting Litigators to join their growing team. Their goal is to provide their clients with valuable solutions in a timely and efficient manner. The ideal candidate will also have the same values and skills of supporting the firm in a timely, and efficient manner.
The ideal candidate will come with a strong understanding of Canadian tax laws and regulations, able to support corporate and litigation teams, have exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to work independently within a fast-paced legal environment. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for performing various administrative tasks, conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and maintaining accurate records.
Working under the direction of assigned lawyers, this position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and highly reputable legal team specializing in tax and corporate law.

Job Type: Full time, permanent
Wage: $55,000 - $65,000+ with up to 10% performance bonus
Location: Downtown Vancouver (this is a 100% in office position)

Responsibilities:
Legal Administrative Support:
- Assist tax lawyers in managing their caseload by organizing and maintaining files, documents, and correspondence.
- Prepare and edit legal documents, including agreements, contracts, and tax-related forms.
- Coordinate and schedule meetings, court appearances, and client consultations.
- Communicate and liaise with clients, opposing counsel, and government agencies as directed.
Legal Research and Analysis:
- Conduct comprehensive legal research on Canadian tax laws, regulations, and precedent cases.
- Summarize and analyze legal documents, statutes, and court decisions to provide insightful recommendations to tax lawyers.
- Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and assist in monitoring and communicating legal developments to the team.
Documentation and Record Management:
- Draft and review correspondence, memos, and other legal communications.
- Prepare and maintain accurate and organized client files, ensuring compliance with document retention policies.
- Assist in managing and organizing electronic databases and document management systems.
Client Service and Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, demonstrating exceptional client service.
- Assist in preparing client reports, invoices, and billing documentation.
- Coordinate and facilitate client meetings and communications as required.
Administrative Tasks:
- Provide general administrative support, including answering phone calls, managing calendars, and arranging travel arrangements for the tax law team.
- Prepare and process expense claims, invoices, and other administrative paperwork.
- Assist in maintaining accurate timekeeping records for billing purposes.
Requirements:
- Diploma or certificate in Legal Administration (Formal Legal Administrative Assistant or Paralegal education and training required)
- 1-2+ years experience working as a legal assistant, preferably in a litigation, corporate or tax law firm/department, with at least 1+ years recent experience in a corporate environment
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian tax laws and regulations and familiarity with various legal precedents and procedures
- Proficiency in legal research tools and databases
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail
- Proficiency in using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
- Discretion and ability to handle confidential information appropriately
- Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills
