Key Responsibilities
The Apprentice Mechanic/Shop Hand is responsible for assisting Mechanics with servicing and repairing company buses in a safe, efficient, and effective manner. This position is not confined to shop activities as the Apprentice Mechanic/Shop Hand may be required to assist in field work on downed buses and computer related tasks.
- Basic ongoing maintenance / repair of buses
- Spring and winter maintenance
- Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs
- Work with shop management to maintain schedules and priorities
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment
- Attend and participate in safety meetings and inspections
- Perform various other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Registered Apprentice or looking to become one
- SOUTHLAND will provide training for qualifications that are required or preferred, such as maintenance procedures
- Analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Exposure to working on diesel engines considered an asset
- Heavy equipment repair and diagnoses considered an asset
- Own hand tools considered an asset
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Computer proficiency
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
