Alberta has a vibrant and successful capital market that is both significant and unique in Canada, representing 28 per cent of the Canadian capital market. The ASC is the industry-funded regulatory agency responsible for regulating all securities-related activity in Alberta by administering the province's securities laws. It is entrusted to foster a fair and efficient capital market in Alberta; and to protect and educate investors.
Working alongside a collaborative team of experienced lawyers, the Senior Legal Counsel, Market Regulation, will assist in the development of securities regulatory policy, engage with market participants to understand the securities-related challenges they face, and consider securities regulatory solutions to those challenges. Responsibilities include: legal research and analysis for market regulation issues, and initiatives being developed and implemented in other national and international jurisdictions.
Additionally, this individual will service the newly created Innovation and Finance division, focussing on crypto and other technology related entities. This innovative division is using technology to improve, alter, and change the capital market; how individuals invest, and how the ASC can provide regulation and monitoring.
