Automotive Designer

The successful candidate will be joining our team at our newly built state-of-the-art facility in North Waterloo.
Job Role: Design of form and trim tooling for the automotive industries
Job Responsibilities:
- Design 3D models in Catia V5
- Design 3D models in SolidWorks
- Design of 2D tooling aids using AutoCAD
- Experience with advanced surfacing and modeling
- Comprehensive knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders
- Reverse engineering from supplied prints as well as physical components
- Participate in design coordination meetings and address critical issues
- Preparation of BOM’s for material requisitioning and direct communication with vendors
- Preparation of documentation and illustrations as required to aid the customer in visualizing concepts and understanding the tooling
- Communicate efficiently with a worldwide customer base and a second US based facility
- Ensure quality controls processes are being followed
Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: College Diploma in Design or equivalent
- Work Experience: 4-8 years
- Proficiency in Cata V5 and SolidWorks
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe
- Strong presentation skills of concepts /designs to a varied audience
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with other departments to meet deadlines
- Must be self-motivated and detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple projects
- Ability to problem solve and work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skill
- Flexibility
- Strong analytical thinking skills
