About the Role
The Production Manager will be part of the Factory Level Management Team, reporting to the VP of Operations. The Production Manager is responsible for leading, and developing the team, while promoting a positive culture of continuous improvement. This position will ensure production is conducted as planned and according to agreed budgets and policies within a Lean Culture. The Production Manager assumes full accountability and ownership of their team’s development, of Operations follow-up, and of the execution of projects, ensuring that company safety and quality standards are met.
What You'll Do:
- Fulfill primary leadership role on our health and safety committee, as well as on the shop floor.
- Work with supervisors to ensure that production operators are properly trained on equipment operation to uphold safety practices and minor troubleshooting and care of equipment.
- Responsible for daily management and coordination of plant operations, while ensuring compliance with all labor, safety, environmental and corporate policies, and regulations.
- Responsible for attaining manufacturing objectives by efficient utilization of manpower, material, and equipment.
- Responsible for driving production efficiency to meet on-time delivery targets while maintaining quality standards of manufactured products.
- Support and lead the team in the development and management of performance indicators (KPI) for Customer On-Time Delivery, Productivity, Efficiency, and Utilization to ensure competitive, constant and reliable results.
- Responsible for budgetary planning and monitoring of financial performance to ensure the facility is meeting or exceeding commitments.
- Responsible for identification and implementation of capital projects that support business objectives.
- Responsible for enforcing quality standards and processes; improving operations and products, optimizing production and workforce planning.
- Provide coaching and training to team members as part of their professional development and maintain a succession planning strategy.
- Use HR processes and systems to develop the potential of all team members and proactively deal with performance issues.
- Manage day-to-day challenges and opportunities as they arise, finding innovative and repeatable solutions that can be implemented to drive continuous improvements focusing on processes, tools, and people to optimize manufacturing efficiencies.
- Educate the team on company policies and drive a culture of trust and respect.
- Manage and support QA requirements as needed to resolve product quality issues that arise from internal non-conformance, customer inquiries and complaints etc.
- All other duties as assigned.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferably in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering).
- 3 to 5 years progressive manufacturing production leadership experience.
- Previous experience managing a team of 20+ staff.
- Strong experience working with Continuous flow in a Build to Order manufacturing environment.
- Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- The ideal candidate should possess a strong aptitude for applying analytical and continuous improvement skill sets in a fast-paced manufacturing setting, effectively driving positive changes and enhancements.
- Must possess excellent leadership and problem-solving skills, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Excellent English language communication skills (both verbal and written).
