The opportunity
As the Accountant, your primary responsibility is to ensure the accurate and timely accounting of transactions for CWB’s Wealth Management group of companies, including CWB Wealth Management Ltd, and Canadian Western Insurance Ltd. This position is also responsible for the full accounts receivable cycle for CWB Wealth’s financial planning, tax and education wellness services.
Working alongside a small team of 6 Accountants, this is your opportunity to contribute, learn and grow. Specific Accountabilities
Month End Close
Prepares and processes all month end journal entries for CWB Wealth Management (WM), and other Wealth entities.
Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accurate representation of assets and liabilities.
Generates the preliminary trial balance and financial statements and update working papers for the Wealth legal entities.
Prepares and documents variance analysis on balance sheet and income statements, including comparisons to budget and prior periods, on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
Accounts Receivable (AR) and Revenue Reporting
Prepares monthly and quarterly invoices for corporate and private clients.
Runs the sales report in the Profx time and billing system every month for financial planning and tax prep business line and prepare sales journal entries.
Processes and records client payments and ensures all invoice payments are collected in a timely manner.
Contact clients to process invoices using Payfirma, visa payments.
Generates the monthly work in progress report and ensures time logging is up to date.
Compiles and balances revenue reports quarterly to be reviewed and distributed to the consultants.
Provides monthly AR aging reports to consultants and follows up any inquires or discrepancies regarding outstanding invoices.
Investigate and resolve client queries through reconciliation of accounts.
Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives by constantly reviewing current processes to find opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Contributors to your success
University degree with an accounting focus.
Minimum three (3) years of work experience in accounting and administration, with knowledge of finance, wealth management and/or banking industry an asset.
Intermediate to advanced digital literacy, with proven ability to utilize multiple software programs, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
Solid understanding of the end to end daily and month end accounting processes.
Strong analysis and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster solid cross functional collaboration.
Highly organized and capable of adhering to deadlines and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
