Responsibilities:
A Day in the Life:
In this role, you will work cross-functionally with scrum teams from various domains to ensure that proper database best practices are implemented during the SDLC process. In addition, your forward-thinking mindset will ensure that the necessary database system changes and updates are proactively performed to ensure that the latter will be able to support the long-term vision of the roadmap.

Work closely with development and DevOps to support database administration, including database performance tuning, management, security, installations, upgrades, patches, backup & recovery, space management, and capacity planning

Participate in the deployment process

Proactively monitor database performance and capacity to ensure that all database systems are properly deployed and maintained

Maintain backup and recovery process, including disaster recovery.

Ensure that database table design is adequately normalized and complies with industry best practices and strict security requirements while satisfying the products’ data requirements

Participate in design sessions with application scrum team members

Review database-related deliverables, such as stored procedures and tables, from application scrum teams
Qualifications:
What You’ll Bring:
- Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or a related field from a reputed institution. Advanced certifications pertaining to SQL Server technologies are a plus.

A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in database administration, preferably with a focus on SQL Server environments.

Demonstrated experience in administering, upgrading, and maintaining SQL Server 2017/2019 in complex enterprise settings.

Proven track record in troubleshooting, analyzing, and optimizing SQL Server performance-related issues.

Expertise in identifying and capitalizing on tuning opportunities, implementing improvements and optimizations, and proficiently advising software developers on best practices and optimizations.

In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with SQL Server configuration settings, ensuring high availability and planning disaster recovery strategies.

Mastery in securing data in compliance with industry standards and organizational policies, coupled with a proven record in implementing robust data security measures.

Comprehensive understanding of SQL Server process automation to streamline operations and reduce manual intervention.

Strong working knowledge of SQL Server tools, including but not limited to, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), with the ability to leverage these tools to optimize database performance and reporting processes.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and lead initiatives to enhance database infrastructures.

Excellent mentoring skills with the ability to train and guide junior team members and foster a knowledge-sharing environment.

Commitment to continual learning to stay abreast of the latest developments and trends in database technologies and SQL Server advancements.

Demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving technologies and implement innovative solutions to meet organizational goals.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly document processes and create comprehensive reports for stakeholders at various levels.

Strong problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues before they escalate, thereby ensuring smooth and uninterrupted business operations.
Preferred qualifications:

Working knowledge of AWS RDS (conventional and NoSQL), showcasing versatility in database management on cloud platforms.

Proficiency in scripting and programming languages including PowerShell, C#, and Python, to facilitate automation and streamline database operations.

Prior experience in software development, demonstrating a well-rounded skill set and the ability to contribute to development projects when necessary.
