Job Description
WHAT'S THE JOB?
Based in our Mississauga office, and reporting directly to the EVP Legal, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, you will provide timely, high quality and practical legal support to our national and regional business teams across Canada.

taking the lead in structuring, reviewing, drafting negotiating, and enforcing commercial agreements.

participate on bids for new construction projects.

Lead and manage construction and other contractual disputes in an efficient manner to provide successful outcomes and mitigating the risks and cost.

anticipating and assessing potential benefits and risks associated with business opportunities and operations.

Counseling business divisions on various subject matters including, but not limited to corporate commercial matters, tender process, procurement, construction risk mitigation, project delay, liens, payment delays, negligent work, defects, omissions and insurance coverage.

coordinating external legal counsel (and or consultants) on disputes in the various regions in which the company operates.

Providing support in other areas of legal department responsibility, including corporate legal matters, supply chain, insurance and risk management.

Developing and implementing internal practices and policies to achieve compliance with our contract management tools.

developing new internal resources/tools/templates/supplementary conditions
Qualifications

Strong interest to work in the areas of construction and facilities management.

Strong technical legal, problem solving and negotiation skills.

Ability to understand complex issues of files and find pragmatic and creative solutions to issues.

Be willing to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Superior written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
