We’re looking for an experienced, skilled and enthusiastic Graphic Designer with a minimal, high-end aesthetic to be responsible for creating captivating layouts, packaging, guidelines and content to tell the MICHI story, communicate vision, mission and purpose to drive customer connection and actions.
THE ROLE
In this position you’ll be responsible for elevating and evolving the MICHI brand aesthetic while supporting the overall brand direction. You will communicate through visual storytelling, content creation, and by driving the brand perception on all platforms. This role requires a strong brand sensibility, a creative mindset, and attention to detail.
Based in Toronto, the Graphic Designer will drive brand equity by leveraging the MICHI creative resources and its community. This role works closely with the Marketing team and Creative Director to build strong brand awareness and conversion.
What does that mean exactly? It means we’ll be counting on you to do the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Visually tell the MICHI brand story, communicate brand purpose, brand values and the story of each collection.
- Evolve and improve upon our brand identity, media kit, branding materials, and packaging while staying true to our history, core customer and where we have been most successful.
- Create engaging, brand-appropriate customer experiences and visual messaging for use on the MICHIny.com website: homepage, category pages, site banners, & promotional messages.
- Create design assets for extended website features and landing pages (i.e.: creative about page, visual size guide)
- Execute photoshoots and videos of on and off body products.
- Create clean and impactful email campaigns that follow industry best practices and standards to drive engagement, conversion and customer retention.
- Help create engaging social media content including photos, videos, gifs and social graphics.
- Ensure a high level of quality and consistency from the details to the "big picture" on each project.
- Help bring new ideas for design and content creation to the team using expertise and an eye for great design.
- Create templates and branding guidelines for our team to be more efficient in their posting on social media, the blog, email, and other channels.
- Develop the quarterly printed look-book as a selling tool and to communicate brand identity.
- Ensure a high level of quality and consistency from the details to the "big picture" on each project.
- Work closely with marketing team and web developers to ensure high quality execution of designs into working digital consumer experiences.
- Attend all relevant meetings to plan and strategize all upcoming content needs.
- Create 3-6 month content calendar and keep up-to-date with calendar changes.
- Work with freelance re-toucher for large jobs and for one-offs, retouch/re-color, edit and crop images.
- Other duties as required.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE – IS IT YOU?
- Superb graphic design, typographical skills and layout ability.
- A deep brand sensibility and high level of taste
- 2-3+ years prior graphic design experience
- A design diploma unless your work speaks for itself
- Expert with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Highly creative, innovative and full of ideas with a demonstrated ability to communicate concepts visually.
- Deep empathy, active listening and customer focus.
- Self-motivated, driven, with a can-do, problem solving attitude
- Reliable, flexible and adaptable
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Excellent time management skills and organizational skills with ability to work in a fast- paced environment.
