Paralegal
The Paralegal will assist in a variety of real estate, finance, corporate, and business law matters. They will be exposed to a wide range of legal practice areas. With a high level of responsibility for the respective practice area, they will work independently, in collaboration with team members, and with external counsel.
What will you do?

Reviewing of contracts including, purchase and sale agreements, procurement and professional services contracts, and commercial leases.

Coordinating with internal departments and external counsel in the set-up, administration, and conveyance of condominium projects, including initial set up of the Condominium Corporation and preparation of Disclosure Packages.
- Preparation of conveyancing documents, including Statutory Declarations. Reviewing and reconciliation of holdbacks

Reviewing, processing payment of, and internally adjusting for municipal taxes.
- Working with provincial registries and external counsel for the corporate maintenance of 100+ companies, new incorporations, and bare trustees

Coordinating with the finance team and external lawyers to prepare finance packages and review finance documents for execution.
- Engaging in regular meetings to improve or set up processes for the Legal team and the whole of shared Services.

Other administrative duties including responding to a high volume of emails, directing inquiries appropriately, record keeping, responding to interdepartmental requests, working closely with the accounting and accounts payable team, maintain legal processes and procedures, research, and cross training as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
What do we look for?
- A minimum of ten years in real estate in Alberta (additional experience in other provinces is valued).

Relevant post-secondary education, such as a diploma in paralegal studies, legal assistant/ secretary certificate, or equivalent experience. Additional education or experience in Real Estate, construction or business will be an advantage.

Experience interpreting legislation such as the Condominium Property Act and Business Corporations Act.

Good understanding of the Alberta Land Titles Office processes, documents, and registration.
