Hybrid Work Model
SLC Management operates in a hybrid environment with a mix of in-office and virtual work where our employees are empowered to do their best. Generally, employees are expected to work three days in-office each week with flexibility depending on their business, client and team needs.
The incumbent will be part of the Global Investment Reporting and Analysis team and will be responsible for supporting the consolidated financial reporting processes for the Global investment portfolio. This will encompass all of the accounting, analytical and operational processes involved with consolidating these investment holdings in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
This user community includes Central Accounting, Regulators, Asset Liability Management, Portfolio Management, Asset Investment Managers, Strategic Business Units, Corporate, Legal, Audit and Tax functions that will be served both locally and
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Support monthly and quarterly close processes including income analysis and various control checks on a global basis
Support Investment related Notes requirements and Management Discussion & Analysis quarterly reporting processes as well as Regulatory and Statistics Canada reporting
Responsibility for US reinsurance reporting and US board reporting
Support development and maintenance of Investment related chart of values
Liaise with various business partners, including Corporate, Canadian and US Finance, Tax and Asset Liability Management
Provide support for strategic projects and initiatives, including supporting the development of processes and controls to incorporate the results of projects and initiatives into controlled and efficient reporting processes
Reporting and analysis to satisfy audit requirements and support the control environment, as well as supporting a continuous improvement working environment through the development and implementation of various process improvements
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Post-secondary education in an Accounting or Finance discipline
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Strong communication and organizational skills
Excellent PC skills, particularly with Microsoft Excel
Strong operational expertise in reporting and systems competencies with a focus on continual process improvement and the ability to leverage automation to ensure efficient and effective operational processes.
Ability to organize, prioritize and make decisions that require innovative thinking.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Knowledge of IFRS (IFRS9/IFRS17) and International GAAP, as well as regulatory rules for investments with the ability to translate into practical applications.
Investment accounting experience, preferably within the insurance industry.
Completion of, or working towards an Accounting/Finance designation (CPA/CFA)

The Base Pay range is for the primary location of the job. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
