ROLE: Accountant, Corporate Reporting - 12 month contract

THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Reporting, the Accountant will play a key role in the day-to-day accounting operations of Venterra’s corporate entities and preparation of the monthly management reporting. In addition, they will have the opportunity to get involved and contribute to exciting projects and initiatives within the department.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform the month-end close including account reconciliations, recording of revenues, and provide support for related management reporting

Perform calculations and prepare the associated journal entries related to cost allocations and intercompany balances

Assist with maintaining the budgeting and forecasting model, and the preparation of cash flow analysis

Work closely with other departments and external partners to perform tasks and monthly analyses

Preparation of quarterly consolidated financial statements

Work closely with external partners during the annual audit process

Responsible for HST filing and assist the Tax team with corporate tax filings as necessary

Contribute to ad hoc projects such as development of new reporting processes and implementation of new reporting system
CANDIDATE PROFILE

A business degree and/or working toward CPA designation (preferred)

Minimum 2-3 years of accounting–related experience

Strong analytical and technical skills including Microsoft Excel

Experience with Oracle (or another ERP system) and working knowledge of SQL, VBA and database tables are considered an asset

Excellent communication and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail

Aptitude to leverage technology to gain efficiencies and improve processes
