Scope
To ensure the safety and security of guests, staff, and hotel property.
This position will work 5 shifts per week: 2 day shifts, one evening shift, and 2 overnight shifts. Some flexibility is required as occasionally they will be scheduled to work other shifts to cover Security team vacations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor property through foot patrols and watching security footage and observe, report, and follow up on safety and security concerns
- Respond to and manage all emergencies including fire, medicals, and any potential threats to people or property
- Maintain order in the hotel, including the on-site staff accommodations
- Follow protocols and the law when responding to situations involving drugs and alcohol
- Document through written reports all incidents, events, and actions taken
- Follow up and investigate complaints and incidents
- Assist other departments as necessary
- Authorized to make any decisions necessary to effectively deal with security concerns and/or emergency situations
- Other related duties as assigned
Physical Demands
- Significant standing and walking
- Frequent sitting and occasional use of a computer
- Frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 11 pounds / 5 kg
- Occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds / 23 kg
Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
- Alberta security license issued under the Alberta Security Services and Investigators Act
- Alberta Class 5 driver’s license and driver’s abstract with no more than 3 demerits
- Current First Aid and CPR level C certification
- Previous security experience preferred
- Training or education in law enforcement, security, firefighting, or EMS an asset
- Clean criminal record
- Competent in Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Keen attention to detail
- Works well in a team and independently
- Able to respond to crisis situations calmly and effectively
