Shift Supervisor – Canpotex/Lanigan.
Procor Limited manages Canada’s largest private tank car lease fleet and operates an extensive repair network across the country. The fleet has grown to include more than 30,500 special purpose tank and freight cars. Procor also operates 27 repair locations servicing the petroleum, petrochemicals, plastics, chemicals, fertilizers and food markets.
Reporting to the Site Manager, the Shift Supervisor will be responsible for the site’s repair requirements and for ensuring that Procor employees work safely and in a Responsible Care environment. This position is responsible for achieving or exceeding key performance indicators through the optimum performance of the operation and on-site team.
Job Duties:
· Supervise the overall operations of the facility and employees during the shift, including the Light Repairs Bay, Wheelshop, Car Wash, & Exterior Repair Tracks in a dynamic, fast paced, high volume operation
· Provide leadership and support to the on-site staff (~12-15) while maintaining a positive and respectful work environment for a diverse team of employees
· Responsible for meeting the facility’s production & revenue targets, managing the coordination of repairs, accurate tracking and documentation of work, controlling inventory usage, and coordination of accurate billing through to railcar release
· Prepare and execute the operations plan and shift turnover, including delivery of objectives to the crew at start of their shift
· Enforce all safety and quality procedures set by both the company and the customer
· Continually develop on-site team to ensure bench strength of skillsets are robust enough to achieve ever-changing operational demands
· Develop and implement initiatives for operational improvement and growth
· Maintain required metrics and documentation
· Preparation of switch lists and coordination with railcar switching contractor
· Other related responsibilities as assigned
Requirements:
· Post-secondary certificate preferred with minimum three (3) years’ experience in a similar leadership role
· 10+ years’ experience in a production or repair facility, preferably rail-related
· Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal and team building skills
· Strong organization, planning, and problem-solving skills
· Strong working computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams), and inventory management systems
· Knowledge of AAR rules, and M1003 Quality Assurance standards an asset
· Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing methods (UT, MT) an asset
· Experience in process management, and continual improvement programs (Lean, Six-Sigma) an asset
· Highly adaptable and responsive to changes in the work environment
· Adhere to Procor’s health and safety standards (including the Responsible Care policy) and wear the required personal protective equipment for the job in a safe manner
· Valid driver’s license
· Eligible to work in Canada
