Vago Law Professional Corporation is a boutique, multifaceted law firm focusing mainly in the areas of refugee & immigration law and criminal law.
There is also a growing area in the areas of family law, estate and civil law.
Many of our clients are of Hungarian Roma or Turkish Kurdish ethnicity.
Due to an increase in case load, there is an opening for a junior lawyer candidate that would be able to carry some of the case load.
The Junior lawyer will be a valuable asset to the firm and will receive strong guidance and grooming. Mentorship will also be provided and there is an opportunity for a lot of learning.
Junior lawyer should be on Legal Aid panel for immigration law. If not, Vago Law would consider assisting junior lawyer in this process.
Some of the key traits for the Junior Lawyer:
-Excels under pressure and ability to handle high case load and multi-task and prioritize effectively.
-Ability to work in a fast paced environment
-Strong work ethic
-Quick learner
-Commuting not an issue to the office (Dufferin & St. Clair interesection). There may be some hybrid work from home arrangement.
-Team oriented, positive attitude
Some of the daily tasks may include: appearing in criminal court/Federal Court/refugee hearings, reviewing materials, docketing, drafting narratives, writing submissions, writing factums, reviewing, client meetings, taking a file from opening to closing, directly communicating with Crown Attorneys, other lawyers, Judges, clients, IRB members. Junior Lawyer will also work with other members of the team, law clerks and interpreters.
