Sampogna Law Firm P.C. is a results driven law firm dedicated to helping clients navigate their legal rights and obligations. Our team is seeking a junior or intermediate level lawyer with minimum 3 years of experience in one or more of the following areas of legal practice:
- Litigation
Familiarity with other areas of law will be considered an asset.
Mandatory Requirements
(License/Certification):
- Must be a member of good standing with the Law Society of Ontario, and must retain status (have no disciplinary history);
- License to practice must be active and in Ontario jurisdiction;
- J.D. Law;
- Able to appear in Superior Court of Justice;
- Must reside in Ontario;
Requirements:
- Comfortable working with technology (Office 365 programs, Outlook, OneDrive, PCLaw, Zoom, TeamViewer, Adobe Acrobat, DocuSign, etc.);
- Strong attention to detail / ability to prioritize tasks;
- Adept at critical thinking / analysis / problem solving;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Highly self-motivated and organized;
- Strong time-management skills;
- Comfortable with quality advocacy;
- Familiar with related responsibilities:
- Prepare litigation files;
- Conduct research to support legal documents and disclosure;
- Draft, proofread, and review legal documents;
- Assist in negotiation to resolve legal disputes;
- Meet limitation dates and deadlines;
- Meet billing targets (fees, billable and billed hours);
- Prepare for trial, mediations, discoveries, settlement negotiations, arbitrations, etc.;
- Participate directly in consultation and negotiations sessions with clients, third parties, counsel, etc.
- Brief senior counsel on all files and non-file matters;
- Comply with Construction Act, Bankruptcy Act, Rules of Civil Procedure, etc. requirements;
- Comply with LSO reporting, audit, and professional development requirements;
- Comply with LawPro levy reporting and insurance application requirements;
- Familiar with OneKey and Caselaw;
- Solid understanding of the legal process and its rules;
- Able to take responsibility for and manage files;
- Adept at handling a high volume of work;
- Proven ability to work under pressure
- Excellent client service / positive relationships with clients and colleagues;
