Reporting to the Manager, Life & Disability Services, the Training & Process Specialist is responsible for supporting the department in developing and refining processes and procedures, communication documents, and best practices. The Training & Process Specialist will also maintain a partial caseload of disability case files.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess department training needs by identifying performance gaps, determining the cause of gaps, and identifying effective solutions
- Design and facilitate training and development efforts through the creation of effective learning objectives, materials, and environment
- Develop, update, and maintain documentation and materials for training programs
- Work with mentors and senior staff members to ensure new staff experience a smooth transition into their roles
- Act as a resource for internal stakeholders providing functional expertise and knowledge
- Ensure effective and timely communication to internal stakeholders with respect to decisions, changes, and other applicable information, that affect business applications and operations
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge; remain current with best practices, industry trends, and product knowledge through professional networks, research, and educational opportunities
- Prepare and deliver presentations to the department on best practices, process, and procedure updates and other materials
- Support Quality Assurance Department Audits through the development and delivery of a QA program
- Responsible for disability claim eligibility decisions and payment approvals in accordance with contractual provisions
- Initiate and perform the analysis, investigation, and assessment of disability claims, documenting case management plans and goals, determine appropriate action, and determine eligibility for benefits
- Conduct and document complete and thorough disability assessments through phone interviews with both the claimant and employer, careful review of medical information, analysis of job description information, and discussions with Medical Consultants
- Develop and manage effective return to work strategies with input and support of the claimant, employer, and other key stakeholders
- Effectively and confidently communicate claim decisions in writing and by telephone to all stakeholders, while considering how certain outcomes may affect all parties involved
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Completion of a post-secondary Bachelor’s degree, Diploma, or certificate program in a related program, and a minimum of 3 years of case management experience is required. Demonstrated experience providing business and training analysis, creating training content, and delivering training is preferred. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered
- Training and experience in counseling, vocational planning, and/or conflict resolution would be an asset
- Experience in coaching, mentoring, or the delivery of adult education would be an asset
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to CPP, Workers Compensation, and other publicly sponsored worker assistance programs would be considered an asset
- Possess superior communication skills (oral, written, and listening) and adept at explaining concepts and giving direction
- Demonstrate strong computer skills with a working knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel, and the ability to easily learn new software programs
- Strong coaching skills; one on one and in a team setting
- Legally entitled to work in Canada on an unrestricted basis
- Criminal Record and background check satisfactory to Saskatchewan Blue Cross
