The Work
The Senior Financial Systems Analyst provides expertise and acts as the subject matter expert/primary administrator for the financial accounting systems within the Controller’s Office that is part of Equitable's Concentra Bank line of business. By drawing on system expertise, this position is accountable for the successful management, operation and upgrading of the Oracle general ledger, Sage accounts payable accounts receivable and Concur travel and expense claim systems. The position ensures that the Bank’s financial and business reporting are functioning in accordance with evolving corporate and regulatory requirements and facilitates fact based, informed decision making. The position is also accountable for the corporate wide integration of financial systems with the general ledger and Concur. In addition, the position manages relationships and works collaboratively with various internal departments and service providers to ensure data is being reported accurately and timely, as well as supports the delivery of financial information and reporting to internal stakeholders including senior and executive management, the Board of Directors and its committees, as well as external regulators and investors.

Deliver reporting to management by:

Providing the analysis and input into the development and ongoing maintenance of expense management and reimbursement policies and guidelines

Analyzing and reporting on business expenses to management in order to ensure compliance with expense management and reimbursement policies and guidelines
Responsible to ensure the ongoing integrity of the financial accounting systems by:
-
Collaborating with management and end users on the ongoing development and implementation of system application updates and processes
-
Working collaboratively with various departments and business leaders to assess product offerings and recommend solutions to ensure desired results are achieved in accordance within current system capabilities and future enhancements
-
Leading and supporting organizational projects and initiatives (i.e. active involvement as project team member, provision of information, research and analysis, input, recommendations, testing, implementation) as they relate to the financial accounting systems

Interpreting, assessing and delivering the needs of end users by evaluating client needs, investigating alternatives and recommending solutions to meet the desired internal and external reporting requirements
- Ensuring financial accounting systems are in compliance with expense management and reimbursement policies

Ongoing management of users’ access, parameters/settings and their capabilities within financial accounting systems, ensuring the enterprise is in compliance with licensing agreements, internal controls and in alignment/synchronized with other systems and business reporting
- Ongoing maintenance of system interfaces, including trouble shooting issues, enhancements, and conversions, to ensure that the financial accounting system appropriately reflects the anticipated results
Act as the subject matter expert and primary contact for the financial accounting systems by:

Leading the administration and support for the financial accounting systems, consisting of maintaining vendor relationships, managing and reviewing supporting contracts, reviewing and enforcing user access control policies and procedures, leading the test process for system patches and annual upgrades, and supporting timely resolution of operational issues related to the financial accounting systems

Providing training support and troubleshooting assistance to end users
- Liaising with internal departments, SaskCentral and financial accounting system vendors on system implementations, updates, enhancements and vendor invoicing

Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of current financial accounting system functionality and end user requirements

Completing the CIDC certification, emergency response and business continuity responsibilities for financial accounting systems

Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, to ensure the general ledger accurately reflects our financial results and supports the business reporting structure. This includes the ongoing management of over 100 business rules required to maintain the accuracy of over 10,000 general ledger account combinations
Contribute to efforts for Concentra Bank and Concentra Trust to achieve corporate, division, department and personnel objectives by:

Leading, coaching, mentoring, motivating and managing the members of the system interface troubleshooting team (ensuring the general ledger is current and accurate) through continuous guidance and feedback to ensure they are achieving their deliverables while meeting department goals

Actively manage the scheduling of the system interface troubleshooting team to ensure sufficient coverage exists on a daily basis
-
Collaborate with internal departments to produce and deliver financial data in accordance with evolving expectations and requirements for financial, business and regulatory reporting
-
Prioritizing development and implementation initiatives to support organizational change initiatives
-
Ensuring tactical steps are initiated for system updates (e.g. specs/requirements are gathered, testing is completed, end users are communicated to, and vendor is consulted or engaged as necessary)

Completion of ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required
-
Completion of an undergraduate degree in Commerce/Business Administration or Information Technology/Computer Science
- Accounting designation would be considered a strong asset;
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in an accounting role with technical systems or business analyst experience. Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of the credit union system and/or financial services sector would be an asset.

Comprehensive ability to assess complex financial system issues, interpret strategies and incorporate tactics to meet business objectives

Subject Matter Expert in the understanding of internal workings of the financial accounting systems and the integration and synchronization of other enterprise systems

Advanced understanding of internal control framework and operational risk elements

Excellent planning and communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial and technical information at the level appropriate to the audience.
